1. Introduction
JatJodi ("we", "our", or "us") is a community app for friendship and matrimony. Users can create profiles, chat, and connect with people who share similar cultural backgrounds and values. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using JatJodi, you agree to this policy.
2. Who Can Use JatJodi
JatJodi is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover a user is under 18, their account will be immediately deleted.
3. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account details: Name, email address, phone number, age, gender
- Profile information: Photos, biography, height, gotra (family lineage), religious views, diet, hobbies, languages, drinking/smoking habits, education, career, location (city, state, country)
- Community-specific information: Father's gotra, mother's gotra, dadi's gotra, nani's gotra (optional fields used for compatibility matching)
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: Approximate or precise location captured during signup and used to show distance between users (see §7 for details)
- Usage data: How you interact with the app (swipes, matches, messages) used to improve the service
- Device information: Device type, operating system, app version
Information from Third Parties
- Google Sign-In: If you use Google to sign in, we receive your name and email address from Google
- Phone verification: We collect and store your phone number, which is verified via one-time SMS code (OTP) before account creation. Your phone number is used solely for identity verification and is never shared with other users or third parties.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Show your profile to other users for dating or friendship purposes
- Match you with compatible users based on your preferences and gotra
- Calculate and display distance between users (when location is enabled)
- Process in-app purchases (Premium subscriptions, Super Likes)
- Send notifications about matches, messages, and app updates
- Enforce our Terms of Service and Safety Policy
- Improve the app and fix issues
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in these cases:
- With other users: Your profile (name, age, photos, bio, and profile details) is visible to other JatJodi users. Your exact location is never shown — only approximate distance.
- With service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and file storage. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data agreements.
- For legal reasons: If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
- In case of business transfer: If JatJodi is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified in advance.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, which is hosted on Google's cloud infrastructure. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Purchased Super Likes and Premium status are backed up to our database so they are not lost if you reinstall the app.
7. Location Data
Location is required to create an account. During signup, we ask you to detect your location. This captures your approximate coordinates and reverse-geocodes them into the city, state, and country shown on your profile. After signup:
- We store your coordinates in our database to calculate distance shown to other users
- Your exact coordinates are never shown to other users — only an approximate distance (e.g. "5 miles away")
- The Show My Location toggle under Profile > Settings controls whether your city and state are visible on your profile to other users. It does not stop the collection of coordinates or the display of approximate distance, both of which are required for the app to function.
- To remove all location data from our systems, you can delete your account at any time under Profile > Settings > Delete Profile.
8. Photos
Photos you upload are stored securely in Google Firebase Storage. They are visible to other users on the app. We do not use your photos for advertising or share them with third parties outside of the app.
9. In-App Purchases
We offer Premium subscriptions and Super Like packs as in-app purchases. Payment is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store — we do not store your payment card details. Purchases are subject to the respective store's refund policy.
10. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your profile, photos, matches, messages, and all associated data are permanently deleted
- This action is irreversible. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data (via Profile > Settings > Delete Profile)
- Hide your city and state from other users at any time (Profile > Settings > Show My Location). Distance is always shown to other users while your account is active. To remove all location data, delete your account.

13. Children's Privacy
JatJodi is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us immediately at ansinghapps@gmail.com and we will delete the account.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of JatJodi after changes means you accept the updated policy.
